Two years and eight months ago, I stood at Heathrow Airport with my family, two suitcases, and a vision — to bring Prabisha Consulting, our IT and digital services firm from India, into the UK market. We had no local clients, no office, no network. What we did have was an unwavering belief in the power of technology to transform small businesses — and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
Starting from Zero
Entering a new market on a Sole Representative Business visa was both exciting and daunting. Establishing a branch office required navigating complex legal and regulatory systems. Understanding cultural nuances, communication styles, and consumer expectations took time — and humility.
Every interaction with a local entrepreneur was an opportunity to listen, learn, and earn trust. And trust, I quickly learned, doesn’t come easy when you’re new. But it’s the cornerstone of building anything lasting.
Listening First, Then Building
In these early conversations, a pattern emerged: UK-based small businesses — especially those run by local entrepreneurs, immigrants, and solopreneurs — were struggling with digital visibility, connectivity, and growth. While the technology existed, it wasn’t always accessible or contextualised for them.
That’s when I realised my role wasn’t just to offer services. It was to build platforms with purpose — tools that solved real problems and helped everyday business owners succeed.
Creating Solutions, Not Just Software
This thinking led to the creation of:
- UKBizNetwork.com – A digital network connecting UK-based entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small businesses to share referrals, collaborate, and grow together.
- HarrowBusiness.com – A hyperlocal business directory giving visibility to small businesses in the Harrow borough, one of London’s most vibrant and diverse communities.
- EcoKartUK.com – A sustainable e-commerce platform encouraging recycling, reuse, and responsible consumerism across UK households.
These platforms weren’t just side projects. Each of them was built from the ground up, bootstrapped, user-tested, and continuously refined. They’re designed not for scale first, but for impact first.
We also expanded our innovation journey by launching:
- Prabisha Startup Network – Supporting aspiring founders with visibility, mentorship, and startup tools.
- CV Builder & Career Tools – Helping jobseekers craft ATS-friendly CVs and prepare for interviews.
- LMS Platform – Providing on-demand learning and development for professionals.
- InterviewPro – A smart interview preparation solution to bridge skill gaps and increase job readiness.
Building Locally, Thinking Long-Term
Through these efforts, I’ve learnt that technology only creates value when grounded in local context. The UK is incredibly diverse, and digital solutions must account for hyperlocal business needs, demographic shifts, and evolving buyer behaviour.
More importantly, I’ve learnt that in the UK ecosystem, relationships precede reach. Speed and scale are celebrated — but sustained trust is what truly drives adoption. Building community-first products requires empathy, patience, and staying close to users.
A Personal Catalyst: My Daughter, Prisha
While professional success has always been fulfilling, something shifted when I looked at my daughter, Prisha.
Her curiosity, creativity, and boundless imagination reminded me that change isn’t just for professionals. It’s for families. For children. For parents.
That’s what inspired the birth of our YouTube Channel – Prisha the Explorer.
On this platform, we bring to life stories, adventures, and educational journeys that inspire kids to think, explore, and dream. It’s not just for entertainment — it’s about creating a safe, joyful, and meaningful space for young minds and their parents. Because I truly believe: when we empower our children, we shape a better future.
Building with Purpose, Serving with Dedication
Working with clients from different corners of the globe and diverse sectors has only deepened our commitment to quality, empathy, and consistency.
We are proud of the long-standing relationships we’ve built — clients who came for one service but stayed because they found a team that truly cares. Whether it’s refining a resume for a new opportunity in tech, or guiding a mother returning to work after a career break, our approach remains the same:
- Listen deeply
- Act with integrity
- Deliver with purpose
What’s Next?
We’re now scaling beyond the UK — taking our platforms and purpose to global communities.
From Birmingham to Glasgow, and now to markets worldwide, our mission remains clear: use technology to solve real problems and drive meaningful impact.
We’re focusing on:
- Digital adoption for underserved small businesses
- Sustainable commerce and the circular economy
- Job readiness through smart tools and coaching
- Local-first, global-scale digital infrastructure
If you’re an investor, founder, local council, or partner, let’s connect. Together, we can empower communities and build digital ecosystems that truly matter — everywhere.
Final Thoughts
My journey from Delhi to London has been filled with challenges, learnings, and remarkable moments. From launching products to winning Harrow Photographer of the Year and donating the prize to a local school — it’s all been deeply fulfilling.
We’re on a mission — not just to grow a business, but to build a movement. One that helps people realise their potential, connect with the right opportunities, and rediscover their confidence.
Bidisha, my wife, who previously led global projects at British Telecom, made a meaningful transition when she moved to London to support my journey. Beyond her distinguished professional background, she has been deeply involved in giving back to the local community. She volunteered her time as a Parent Governor, demonstrating her commitment to education and community development. Together, we are also active members of the Harrow Recreation Ground Volunteers Group, regularly participating in local initiatives and community events. These experiences have not only allowed us to connect more deeply with our neighbourhood but also to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of the community we now call home.
And at the heart of it all is a little explorer named Prisha, who reminds me daily of the power of curiosity, courage, and creativity.
Thank you for reading my story. If it resonates with you, please feel free to share, connect, or reach out. I’d love to hear yours.
